Michael Pou and Tom Maraist continue to help Hugg & Hall Construction and Industrial Equipment Co. expand their Louisiana operations. With their guidance, the Little Rock based company has now acquired its third Louisiana property in the past 15 months with their purchase of the former Nabisco warehouse and distribution center in Destrehan, LA. Located at 101 Alpha Drive in the Plantation Business Campus just one-half mile downriver from I-310 and the Hale Boggs bridge, this facility will be their new operational hub for the Greater New Orleans market. While their Lafayette acquisition in 2019 expanded on their existing regional office, this new facility, like last year’s acquisition in Baton Rouge, will help Hugg & Hall consolidate and upgrade several facilities acquired through their recent merger with Scott Equipment.
Both the Baton Rouge and this New Orleans area project required consideration of both vacant land and existing facilities throughout the entire metro areas. After months of diligent research and after evaluating dozens of properties, Hugg & Hall successfully negotiated to purchase this “for lease” 52,000 SF warehouse/distribution center which sits on a 3-acre lot and includes a secure, paved parking area and 4,000 SF of office space. The site was chosen for its ready adaptability for Hugg & Hall’s use and also for its proximity to the area’s major road network allowing for easy access to their customers in the River Parishes, Jefferson and Orleans Parishes and also the north shore markets in Tangipahoa and St. Tammany Parishes.
Below is a quote issued by John Hugg, President of Hugg & Hall Equipment Co.
“Big thanks to everyone! I really appreciate the effort by Tom and Michael. It was a long haul. Thanks for staying with us. John and Jon, thanks so much for your focus on this. It was a lot of work! George, thanks for putting the Louisiana team together for us. Glad we got this one over the finish line.”
